The current method by which Major League Basball players are compensated is out of control.  Some players are extremely overpaid, and many more are underpaid based on their value to their team from season to seaon. This discrepancy has caused economic instability, ultimately leading to more strikes and a less fan-friendly product.

Jim Ettaro has spent the last 20 years developing a player compansation system based on a salary scale, with companesation determined by team performance, league attendance, longevity, and most importantly individual performance.  A veteran of developing compensation formulas, Ettaro has written two books analyzing player salaries, his most recent outlining what players SHOULD have been paid during their 2008 season.

Jim Ettaro is not just about selling books.  A life long baseball fan, Ettaro wants to save baseball from itself.  Like many fans, he is astounded by some of the outrageous salaries being paid underperforming players.  He sees the dramatic differences between free agent contracts and the salaries paid to players inelligible for free agency and understands that the under prodcutive contracts are costing some of the younger players who deserved to be paid more.  He sees the inflationary pressure unproductive contracts puts on attending a baseball game.  He sees the propensity free agency and the sports agents it entices leads to work stoppages and bitter contract dispute.  The transition from a system of free agency and long term contracts, to one based on a fair salary scale imperative for the long term success of Major League Baseball.
